Which price is being used as the reference?

Start by asking: cheaper than what? A seller’s previous price, a single competitor’s offer and a claimed market price are different reference points. Record the exact basis before evaluating a percentage.

A previous price or a competitor’s price?

SECO distinguishes comparisons with a seller’s previous price, introductory prices and competitors’ prices. Percentage discount advertising is subject to conditions. Correct arithmetic alone therefore does not establish that an advertising claim is lawful.

Keep the reference offer and its date

Save the product description, seller, price, quantity, delivery terms and date checked. Record whether the offer was actually available and who qualified for it. A sold-out product, temporary voucher or customer-specific price may change the comparison. One expensive shop does not establish the usual Swiss market price.

Are the products genuinely comparable?

Matching weights are not enough. Compare product category, net quantity, cultivation method, origin, cannabinoid profile, documented quality information and included services. Record differences and missing information too. A strain name alone does not establish identical products or batches.

Do not infer quality from price

A low price proves neither good nor poor quality. Check available product information and batch-specific documentation. Mark missing details as unknown instead of assuming equivalence. Flower and oils cannot be equated simply through a price per gram.

Keep access routes separate

CBD products, prescribed cannabis medicines and products supplied through authorised pilot trials are not interchangeable offers. Medical use and research have their own access conditions. A price comparison replaces neither a prescription nor admission to a study and grants no entitlement to obtain cannabis.

Calculate the saving step by step

Compare the same quantity over the same period. Add product payments, delivery and other applicable fees on both sides. An undisclosed fee should not automatically be treated as zero. Formula: saving as a percentage = (reference cost − offer cost) ÷ reference cost × 100. The reference cost must be greater than zero.

Fictional example: delivery turns 50% into 40%

An arithmetic exercise only, not a market price or CannabisAbo offer: assume the same comparable quantity costs CHF 100 in total under the reference offer. The second offer costs CHF 50 including all costs: (100 − 50) ÷ 100 × 100 = 50%. If CHF 10 delivery is added to the second offer, its total becomes CHF 60 and the saving becomes 40%. Delivery is already included in the reference offer in this example.

Check pack size, period and one-off fees

A smaller pack is not necessarily better value because its total price is lower. A price per gram can help with comparable flower, but minimum quantities and actual spending still matter. For recurring offers, count every payment within the chosen period. A one-off fee can change the saving in the first period.

Check total costs and contract terms

What the calculation establishes, and what it does not

A documented comparison can show the saving between those particular offers at the recorded time. It does not establish a permanent saving for every product, location or buyer. SECO explains that an advertised competitor comparison requires actual prices for the predominant quantity of identical goods in the relevant market area. Two screenshots do not automatically demonstrate this. Our comparison sheet is a personal checking aid, not legal clearance for advertising.

What does this mean for CannabisAbo.ch?

At least 50% below comparable shop or pharmacy prices is our commercial target. There are currently no confirmed products and prices with which to calculate an actual subscription saving. Pharmacy products must not be treated as automatically comparable. A future offer needs specific terms and a transparent comparison basis.

CannabisAbo.ch is in preparation. Small, Medium and Large are planned; quantities, prices, intervals, terms and a launch date remain unconfirmed. We accept no orders or payments. Launch requires a lawful distribution route, necessary authorisations and operational readiness. Register with CannabisClub.ch for information when the model is ready. Registration activates no subscription and guarantees neither delivery, THC access, a prescription nor a study place.

Questions about price comparisons

Does a low price per gram establish a 50% saving?

No. Comparable products and quantities and all costs must be considered. Access routes and offer conditions still matter.

Does one comparison prove a general price advantage?

No. It concerns the documented offers at the recorded time. A general market comparison needs a broader, robust basis.

Has CannabisAbo.ch’s 50% savings target been demonstrated?

No. It is a target for a planned offer. Final products, prices and comparison bases have not been confirmed.
